Don't be surprised, Gina. I mean Elvis is BIG EVERYWHERE. He is indeed the king of rock.

You know I am also into classical music and opera and he also was the subject on an opera forum. Most people there are very critical when it comes to Rock and Popstars since they have a different understanding of what a good voice is.
But they all love Elvis and say that he really was an outstanding singer, and that he was blessed with a colourful voice with a unique timbre. Some say he even had the vocal talents to make it big in singing opera, since his voice was so special.

It seems everyone loves this man and this is what impresses me. Why could he fascinate so many people who have so different tastes?

I heard too that he donated much for charity. He was a very generous person. Priscilla said that he always loved to give presents to her, his family and friends. He loved to make presents, he loved to give.

I also heard that he lost his mother very young. She was only 46 when she died, he was 22 or 23. He was always very close to his mother. Maybe that's why he always wanted his own family and was in such pain when Priscilla left him and he feared he would lose family again.
But I think he also was close to his father. I think he often accompanied him on concert tours. Elvis definetely was a family man.

On that documentary I was talking about they showed his father, Vernon Presley, after Elvis' death, where he was in an office with thousands of letters and his father thanked all the people who sent him their condolences. They also showed him at his son's grave. Vernon Presley was a broken man and died only three years after his son. I think he couldn't bare his son's death. No wonder.

did you know that Elvis was also very religious? He sang and even recorded Gospel songs. And I need to get his Christmas CD. So many people say his versions of Christmas songs is a must have.
