Brad Pitt, Carey Mulligan Circling 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' Remake
David Fincher’s upcoming remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo could lead to another collaboration with Brad Pitt, who starred in his films Seven, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
If you’re a fan of the Swedish movie, based on the late Stieg Larsson’s bestselling "Millenium Trilogy", the recent casting of movie stars Pitt and Oscar-nominee Carey Mulligan might give you pause. For Pitt and Fincher fans, however, this is likely great news: You could argue that few directors besides Guy Ritchie have gotten better performances out of the heartthrob-turned-serious actor over the years.
IndieWire reports that Pitt is a strong bet to play the main protagonist, a disgraced reporter who travels to Sweden to solve the disappearance of a young woman. Mulligan, reported in The Times as having landed the role opposite, would play Lisbeth Salander, a gifted computer hacker with a punk-rock fashion sense.
The same article states that Mulligan may have signed a three-film deal covering all of Larsson’s Millennium books, which could pay her up to £10M. The actress was nominated for playing the lead role in An Education, and is said to have won the approval of Larsson’s family.
To date, the book series has sold 25 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the original film, directed by Niels Arden Opley, has been a critical and commercial hit worldwide, grossing more than six times its budget. The second and third films in the trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, are scheduled to be released later this year.
Steve Zaillian is said to be writing the adaptation for Fincher, but a source close to the project claims he hasn’t turned in a script yet, and that final casting hasn’t been determined. Interestingly, despite the involvement of Fincher and Pitt, the remake is reported to be set in Sweden, which could just mean the premise will involve more globe-trotting than Europe-trotting, and that sounds sort of compelling.

Well there you go, a movie Brad and Jolie can do together. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Fits her perfectly.
Brad and David Fincher again? They better be careful, people are going to wonder what goes on behind closed doors with these two. *gigglin* Especially with the way David can get Brad to perform. So nice of them to let us watch.*grin*
Just take a look outside, is that a full moon I see? *howlin*
