TriPictures picks up Summit�s Tree Of Life

Leading Spanish outfit TriPictures has taken the distribution rights for Spain to Terrence Malick�s Tree Of Life, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, and Gary Winnick�s Letters To Juliet.

The titles were sold by Summit Entertainment in Cannes.

Malick�s Tree Of Life follows a man who struggles to come to terms with a childhood torn apart by sickness, suffering and death. Bill Pohlad at River Road Entertainment and Pitt and Dede Gardner are co-producers on the film which is due for release in the US later this year.

Summit previously sealed distribution deals for Malick�s film at Cannes to EuropaCorp in France, Icon (UK and Australia), TeleMuenchen Group (Germany), Svensk (Scandinavia), O1 (Italy) and Belga (Benelux).

Sould be interesting to see the chemistry between Brad and Sean Penn. I didn't realize this is a Plan B production. Rumor has it Heath Ledger was suppose to play Brad's part in this movie. I wonder if there is any truth to that. Brad stepped in at the last minute to fill in. I suppose if he is producing it, that would make sense.

On a more personal note, What is Sean Penn doing in his private life? He can't decided if he wants to split with his wife or not. She should tell him to go take a flying leap as many times as he wants to break up, wants back together, blah,blah,blah...Must be true love on her part. That can be a major hardship in life. Looks like they are back together AGAIN!! Myself, I thought it was "tacky" of him not to mention his wife in his Oscar acceptance speech. Maybe that was one of the times he felt like they were broken. I hope he is on meds for being manic as he clearly is.
