Brad Pitt’s Brother Passes on Running for Office

The Republican primary to replace Rep. Roy Blunt (R) in the conservative 7th district continues to be very fluid, but one intriguing name has recently surfaced in local GOP circles.
Doug Pitt is the owner of ServiceWorld Computer Center and is known for his charitable work in Springfield. He also happens to be the brother of Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt.
But Doug Pitt said Wednesday that a Congressional bid isn’t in the cards, at least not this cycle.
“Some friends called and said, ‘What do you think’” of running in 2010, Pitt said. “But it’s nothing I have on the radar right now.”

While Pitt pointed out that he has worked with both Democrats and Republicans in his philanthropic work, he said he would run as a Republican if he ever were to make a Congressional bid.

But 2010 is “not the right time” to go down that road, he said. For now his interests remain in the charitable realm.

Just last month, Drury University in Springfield announced that the Pitt brothers had donated $600,000 to ensure that the school’s new 3,100-seat sports arena would be built to higher environmentally friendly standards.

Wow and he is a Republican. I am impressed that he would stand and say so with his famous brother taking a stand for liberal rights.

Why does Brad's life seem to be playing out like LOTF. Doug = Alfred....chucklin Isn't his brother Doug married to one of Brad's ex girlfriends?I thought I heard that a while back, that Brad had something for his brothers wife. Kinda strange how it fits into that movie. Next thing you know, Brad will be on the run asking Doug to raise his children for him.hehehe

And how interesting Brad and Doug donated 600 thousand dollars to the arena in Springfield. That is the first I have heard of that.

His brother would probably win if he ran for office. He seems like a really good guy who gets involved because he cares. Wasn't he on the board of directors with the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield? I remember when we took a collection for that charity because Brad was doing a premiere there. What movie was that, anyone remember? I think I have the Springfield paper somewhere around here from that event. Too funny, that might be fun to look at in the now. I still get newsletters from the boys and girls club of Springfield for donating money years ago.

If Doug does run for office, it will be interesting to see if Brad being his brother will hurt him or help him. Especially since Brad is vocal about being a democrat.
