I agree, Janine, i think it will be Mickey Rourke and Kate Winslet too. If it's not Mickey Rourke (by some crazy chance), it'll be Sean Penn. So Brad can bask in being nominated for the 2nd time (and first time in Best Actor category) but i really doubt he'll win, the competition is just too steep this year in Best Actor category....

Interesting how different the Oscar noms are from the Globes, i am surprised Kate is nominated for The Reader and not Revolutionary Road in Best Actress category. I haven't seen The Reader but she was heartbreakingly good in Revolutionary Road (i am saying heartbreakingly because it's not exactly a feel good movie). And other awards put her in Best Supporting Actress Category for The Reader so i am all confused, i didnt know she can win a Globe as Best Supporting for the Reader and then get Best Actress for the same movie at the Oscars, how weird is that?
Although the good news about that is that now it opens up a chance for Penelope Cruz to get Best Supporting for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, she was sooooo good in that. And it was so nice to see Taraji P. Henson got nominated in best supporting actress category for CCofBB, good for her.
I am placing my bets on Cruz in that category though.

And of course the big buzz is that Heath Ledger was nominated for Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight.
on the one-year anniversary of his death (which is today). He will without a doubt get the posthumous Oscar, i think Best Supporting Actor category is pretty much sealed...

It is a very exciting awards year, it is really cool that Brad and AJ got His and Hers nominations, i dont know if any other couple ever did in the same year like that. And CCofBB tied with Titanic with 13 Oscar nominations, by the way. Of course it's likely that Slumdog Millionaire is going to sweep it again but i am still holding out hope that CCofBB will pull through. Even despite the fact that some people hated this movie (ahem, Gina LOL)

Can't wait for the ceremony. Sun Feb 22, everyone, mark your calendars :)

Myst
