He was married to Catherine Keener for a long time so the two of them are good friends of Brad's. He's in his early 40's and still looks great. He shot to fame as the object of Julia Roberts' affection in My Best Friend's Wedding. The movie with Debra Messing (called The Wedding Date, i believe) was supposed to be along the same vein but it didnt quite become as popular as MBFW.
