Subject: War on Twinkies! I like that idea
In reply to: Anonymous! 's message, "War on drugs has been won!" on 21:43:02 01/26/02 Sat

I like the idea of a war on twinkies! As one who constantly fights the "battle of the bulge" I am all for this war. As for the "war on drugs" it is high time we start treating it as a medical problem. The idea of the methadone treatments was a step in the right direction.

Let governments control the sale and distribution of "illicit drugs" just as they do with prescription drugs, and then the users will be known. They can be tracked and treated, the price will not be prohibitive and crime against persons will be drastically reduced. War over! Making addicts criminals just makes them "damaged goods" for life. Take away the criminal label and they have a chance at a productive life, once they can overcome their addiction.

Just my two shillings worth.
