Subject: Radio Talk Shows In Cayman

Both of the talk shows on cayman radio have become useless as forums in which people can discuss topics of interest to the public. The host of the morning program says that she is bringing on people who are in the Government and therefore can answer the callers questions and complaints. All they seem to do is defend what they are doing when challenged, and give nonsensical reasons for the policies of their departments. The host of morning program is clearly biased on the side of business and Government and unresponsive to criticism of these interests. This host will let vindictive and ignorant people ramble on and on while defending or cutting off well deserved criticism of the Government and business groups on the island. An illustration of this is her emotional reaction to the criticism of Cayman Airlines cockpit safety procedures. The caller was told on one program that she would inquire about them. On a subsequent program a representative of the airline addressed many safety issues but neglected to address the specific issue that the caller had brought up. The original caller called in and brought this issue to the attention of the host a second time. The host terminated the call because of a dislike of people " who talk over her ". The safety issue was not discussed and the airline was not asked to explain the original callers complaint which I considered to be valid, and in need of attention. On the afternoon show the host cut off the same caller because he implied that the host was not well read on the topic he was discussing.
What kind of talk show hosts are these two? A talk show host must be unbiased and evenhanded and must never let their emotional response to a caller, interfere with discussion of ideas.
