Ok folks I got notification that there is a bill that is being pushed through to re-create the boxing commission in NC. It is being introduced to committee today. I would like everyone that can to please call Bill Fasion and let him know that I ( Jason Culbreth) have contacted his office reguarding this bill and you would apreciate that he contat me prior to moving forward with the bill. Here is his contact information.

We need to be really nice. If he is willing to push the boxing commission bill then we might be able to piggy back the MMA stuff we want and get the "gladiator law" repealed. Please be professional.

Ok, I have 2 questions.
#1. Why would any non-boxer REALLY wish to see the re-creation the boxing commission in NC? That would only serve to help them take over our sports of Grappling and MMA.

#2. Trying to put a bill, that none of us have seen, through with the NC Boxing Commission deal,....Depending on how that bill is written it may give the Boxing Commission 100% control over MMA. Is that waht is being proposed here???

Good Point by Huss

Simular to the question I asked A long time ago, I more than all want MMA here but what does the bill say?

Jason,

As with all those others out there that have a stake in this, we would like to know EXACTLY what we are voting on here. We need to see the MMA bill you're reffering to first. I'm sure you did a good job on it, however, this is not a matter to take lightly. Nor an issue to keep under wraps anymore.
But since you're trying to submit the bill asap then by all means, show us the bill asap. Copy and pasting the text to here is fine.
Depending on how that bill has been written it could help or hurt us. Or even worse, place the NC Boxing Commission in complete control of MMA and other sports. Going off everything you've said to everyone in the past I am sure that you are not wanting THAT to happen. I know I do not, no one else with MMA background would. We've seen what they did with Boxing,...the chance to screw up and screw over MMA is a wetdream of their's.
Getting MMA legalized in NC is a must but NOT with the Boxing Commissions involvement. There are other options without selling it out to the same people that shut it down out of ignorance and jealousy only a few years ago. Now the NC Boxing Commissioner himself tells me that they what it back in NC "because it's a great money maker"! These are NOT the types that we want controlling the fate of MMA in NC.

See there is no MMA Bill currently. To get a bill you have to get someone to sit down with you and formulate it. That is why I wanted people to call Bill Fasion and have him sit down with me so that I would have something sloid to show everyone and know what the possibilities were. It is my understanding that 3 people called his office and that we missed a perfect chance to get in and piggy back on the Re-creation of the boxing commission. Now what has to happen is we have to stop the re-creation of the boxing commission untill it is given the authority to oversee MMA and structure the re-creation with the law.

Interesting. Just so I'm clear here,....the last sentence sounded like you WANT the Boxing Commission to oversee MMA?
Yes/No?

Will you go with me to the summer dance?
Yes/No?

There needs to be an overseeing agency to regulate the events, track the fighters and make sure that people get paid. i don't care if a MMA commission or Authority is created but the way things are currently we will take the boxing commission if we can help create the rules of engagement.

No dance for you. I think you would step on my feet and not let me lead.

There is nothing wrong with having the boxing commission oversee MMA. The states where it has taken off (Nevada and New Jersey) have their boxing commissions oversee it.

I agree the boxing commission didnt do a thing to aid boxing, but NC has NEVER been a boxing state anyway, the interest was never here, and most likely never will be.

I do not think the boxing commission or its people have any desire to "screw" MMA. They just did not understand it and most folks have a little fear about what thye dont understand. Fact is for now they cant not be against MMA as it is the law plain and simple. Given an oppurtunity I think it will work out, at least to the level there could be some shows with rules similar to the amatuer level shows in Va, which would be a HUGE step forward.

I for one dont care if the comissioner wants MMA because it is a money maker. Fact is that is the only thing that will promote change, money or the oppurtunity to make it. The State will be for anything they stand to gain from. The big hinge here will be if and when the commission takes on allowing and overseeing MMA who they use as consultants and what framework for rules and regs they use. Luckily we have a few commissions who oversee MMA for the NC comm. to draw a framework from.

The interest in MMA here is strong and there really isnt much if anything the commission could do to kill MMA once they allow it to happen. The only folks who could screw it up then would be the promoters and competitors, or in other words...us.

Brandon is correct. We have to present as an organization and a good start is to contact Bill Fasions office and ge thim to engage us so that we can piggy back on the bill that he has out there. That or we need to just get the MMA law repealed for now.

If bill fasion don't engage us.
What would it take to get the "MMA law repealed"?

it would take a legislator willing to introduce that. We just need $$$ to get it done. If anyone knows any major business owners in this state who either have lobiest or contribute to campaigns it would really help.
