OK, I have been a little harsh on these sorts of threads before, today I am going to be a bit more polite.

First off, you are not a fighter. You are a guy who wants to train and possibly, provided you have what it takes fight eventually, 12-18 months down the road (12 months is VERY optimistic).

Second, GOOD gyms have bills to pay. Some dude training people in his garage might be able to do this on the cheap. A decent location, insurance, utilities, etc cost an arm and a leg. So you say you are low on cash and I say what do YOU think you should pay per month? I would never say I wouldnt work out a deal with someone who came to me with some financial woes, but it most likely would not (99.9% sure) be someone I just met in off the street, unless he were willing to cut my grass every week (with weed eating) and clean the mats every night.

Third, Do you have any combat sports/martial arts training? For all you know it could simply horrible to train, why not try it first before you decide you want to fight? This allows for alot less pressure in your training, means you wont be perceived as an ass when training, and wont have one strike against you walking through the door when you call yourself a "fighter".

Lastly, there are SEVERAL part time gigs where a full time student could scrape together a hundred + bucks a month for training. Better to pay the amount required where you are at rather than looking for too good a deal out of the gate. By the same token ALOT of places offer significant student discounts for training. Its relative to how much you expect to pay for good training I guess.
