Actually that is a directly personal attack on Hurst when you say stuff like that. You dont have to know someone to talk smack about them, as you are demonstrating.

I have only ever been to a few sub grappling/BJJ tournaments and I can say none of them run too smoothly, and the bigger they get the more chaos that will ensue.

I will have to agree that the tournament ran poorly. There was very little communications to the competitors when there were a shortage of competitors and the divisions were combined. Then there was the random moving around of guys putting them in divisions they didn't belong in. Not splitting up the weights properly. When the divisions were combined the pairing up of individuals couldn't have been any poorer. Say they combined 3 divisions. a 155 guy, 2 guys in the 170-190 division and a guy over 190. Why would you put the 155 guy against the over 190 guy in the first match? This is the kind of stuff that makes this event tuff to support.

There were 2 refs in particular that were the worst I have ever seen. Now Trust me...I know reffing and have made my share of mistakes, but when you have 2 guys start standing, one guy gets the takedown and takes mount. This is a takedown in any tournament. WTF was going on. In one match there were 2 guys rolling and a guy passed to mount. This was said at the rules meeting this is a 7 point move. Well the guy wasn't given the mount points only the guard pass. What a crock. There were a few refs there that did a great Job, Andrew Smith, Noah Booth and Fernando. Yeah all refs make mistakes but the 2 brazilian refs were terrible!!!!

Overall the competition at the event was excellent. I got to see some fantastic matches and enjoyed the pro divisions. It was great to see guys from all over show up and compete here in NC. Hopefully this same talent pool will come out and support the pendagrass events in Wake Forrest.
