Now you live in NC right? Remember we have a LEGAL lottery, but still no actual state lottery. It was passed in the dead of night by a convicted crook (note I am not against the lotto, but that Jim Black is one shady dude). You are surprised NC was approving (they actually only approved one event I know of, the one in Fayetville before the rules were final) events before rules were final? Watch an NC road crew work a few days, and suddenly the chaos of all this will be much more understandable.

My guess though is some guys who tend to be more up on their homework (Jason, this is your cue to post the rules) will be along to get em up, while others who already have events planned are not quite as up to speed on the rules.

I just got an email today from Sheree Brown with the NCBA & she said check back in 2 weeks -- the new rules "should be ready by then".

I got the final rules today. Email me if you want a copy. I can send you an Adobe Acrobat file that is about 43 pages long, or a Word Document that is about 91 pages long.

May 24th, June 14th, and July 19th.

These are the dates that I've heard. I can't say anything about sanctioning.....but I hear these events are under way
and will go down.

ok so if the referee stops the match due to submission that is a TKO and you have a 30 day suspention, but if you tap out yourself no suspention.

no kicks to the head, only punches, no knees to the head? no elbows anywhere?

I also saw in the rules that the trainer cant be coaching from the corner, they much be silent??

I think the rules say no "loud shouting" or profanity. Apparently some of the guys in the commission have never actually been to a fight. The only way anyone can hear you from the corner is to be loud. I get told to quiet down at shows where you ARE allowed to shout instructions. I am going to have to wear a gag in the corner or get my guys DQ'd.

The way it is organized is confusing (surprise!).

From what I can tell, Section .0400 Says "Permits, Licensing, & Contracts" and does not specify to which style it is referring. So, as with the previous Sections, one might assume it refers to all 4 regulated styles. Under this Section it says:

(b) A trainer shall not coach or in any way assist a contestant during a match, or by word or action attempt to heckle or annoy his participant's opponent.
(c) A trainer shall not enter the corner or the ring at any time during the match and shall remain seated and silent during the match.
(d) If any trainer enters the corner or the ring during any match, he shall be immediately ejected by the referee, and the referee shall order the match to continue.

It says the same thing about "Seconds". However, this must apply to Boxing & Kickboxing Matches only, even though it doesn't say that. (Under that section, it also says something about wiping the mat everytime someone falls down, so obviously this is not for MMA).

Then under Section .0807 for Duties of Seconds in MMA:

(a) In a Mixed Martial Art contest there may be three licensed seconds positioned in a designated area by a cage or fenced area or positioned in each corner of a ring. For championship bouts there may be four licensed seconds.
(b) Only the contestants and referee shall enter the ring, fenced area or cage during a match.
(c) The referee may, in his or her discretion, stop a contest if an unauthorized person enters the ring, fenced area or cage during a round.
(d) Only three seconds may enter the ring, cage or fenced area.
(e) There may be no loud yelling or profanity from anyone working the corner.
(f) If a second leaves the designated area, the fighter shall be disqualified.
(g) A fighter getting knocked out of a ring and onto the floor must get back into the ring within 20 seconds. The referee shall disqualify a contestant that receives assistance from anyone to return to the ring, cage or fenced area.

did i read it right that seconds/trainers cant be License Managers or Promoters? i guess that would be conflict of interest??
