Good to see more and more tournaments in NC. Especially when they benefit a good cause.

I'd be glad to help you guys with set up and things the day of the event. Just shoot me an email when the date comes closer.

Little update ... Sambazon and Gameness will be sponsoring us again this year. Gameness (thanks to frank) will be giving away a gi to the winner of each the men and women's absolute division. Also, we will have acai on hand thanks to Sambazon.

Tracey,
We'll be using the bjj point scoring system for all the matches. Pretty standard stuff like having to hold a position for at least three seconds before being awarded points, no slamming, etc. We'll post the rules here soon so that everyone can see them. Is there anything in particular you wanted to know about?

I was just wondering about what leg locks were legal in the different divisions. Neck cranks too.

Thanks

I think we are going to allow all leg locks (including heel hooks, toe holds, knee bar, etc.) in the advance division. In the intermediate we'll probably won't allow any twisting leg locks (heel hooks, toe holds), but allow knee bars. And in the beginner we'll probably only allow straight foot locks. I'll confirm with my brother and get back with you.

No rush at all. I think that is pretty standard but just wanted to make sure.

Did you guys make it to the Bud Cup? Ironically I couldn't go because I got my ankle popped from a heelhook.

Actually I was the only one to actually make it out. And I only went on Sunday. They had some really great pro matches.

Thanks for the compliment steve. Glad to hear you're going to be making it back out again this year. It's looking pretty good so far. Guys from across the state and VA have said they plan to be there. We're looking forward to it.

Hey guys,
I was watching George Dillman on the Discovery channel the other day. He demonstrated how you can create a "Chi-Ball" between the palms of your hands and hurl it at your competitor, rendering the competitor helpless. Now, is this type of attack allowed at your contest?

Glad to hear you're coming Anthony. Todd ... sorry no Chi-Balls allowed. I'd fair to say that we would prefer everyone to keep their balls to themselves :)

What will be the order of events on Sat? Will absolute be before or after regular divisions.

We can weigh in Friday too right?

Thanks,

Tracey,
The order should be roughly this: kids/teens, womens, then seniors .. followed by adult division (starting with the advance and working backwards). Then the absolute divisions will be last.
Yep, you can weigh in Friday night. We encourage folks to take advantage of this, it should help cut down on the lines Saturday morning.
