Wow, stop checking the board for a couple weeks and it blows up. Anyway, I know it's old news now, but these are the 3 things I noticed most in the OU-Texas game; 1) If Roy Williams is 100%, I think Simms would've looked better, 2) Texas couldn't decide whether to run it up or sit on their lead, and that's what cost them the game, inconsistent play-calling, and 3) Chris Simms is NOT an NFL caliber QB in any sense, and I don't think he ever will be, his decision making in tight situations is shoddy. That being said, Cedrick Benson failed to ever get going or be the back I think he normally is, and that hurt Simms as much as anything OU did to him directly.
On to baseball, while it's still no guarantee SF will win it all, I think it's safe to say Barry Bonds has erased all doubts about his postseason success or lack thereof. It's unreal to see a team walk the base loaded with 0 or 1 outs just to avoid 1 player. As dangerous as he is, if Anaheim does go on to lose it all I think the decision to pitch around Bonds rather than go at him will be their defining flaw.
As much as I hated Giambi leaving Oakland for NY, it made sense financially and seemed to be a faster track for him to a championship. Now someone help me out with Art Howe's decision to walk away from arguably the best young team in baseball to manage in a team with high media and fan pressure, a roster of overpaid and underachieving veterans, and a pitching staff that couldn't produce a 20 game winner if they played a high school team every 4th day. I understand Oakland has been keeping him dangling for so long and it gets old, but there are several openings right now, and it seems that the Mets job has the least upside. And don't even get me started on Piniella going to Tampa, apparently winning was causing him a rash, one that that job will put a lifetime ointment on. Congrats to Macha btw, if Howe had to leave, I think there is no better replacement anywhere in the game. Annnnndddddd I'm done.
