not sure why you hate OPS... but I think it would be a more valuable stat if OBP was weighed more heavily than SLG%, instead of just adding them together. IF I'm looking at stats, OBP is the first one I look at. It depends on the player I guess, and I'm more into "projecting" what minor leaguers will do, than comparing MLB players. In that context, OBP and BB/K ratios are pretty important.

Just out of curiousity Middy, why is it that you hate OPS? Who invented it anyway... Andrew Jackson... errr.. Peter Gammons?
