In the south, the prior 2 messages are more of a stew. Here in Mississippi, this is how we make chicken n dumplings.

Take cut up chicken and cover with water, add salt, pepper and parsley; boil until tender and remove from broth. Add 1 can of cream of chicken soup. You should have 1/2 to 3/4 pot of broth/soup mixture.

Take 2 cups of flour, and slowly mix cold water so as it is not lumpy. Continue adding water until it is somewhat sticky. It should be like that of bisquit dough. Spread onto floured wax paper (or cabinet) and roll as thin as possible (I use a floured, cold, full drink can). Cut your dumplings into squares. Bring your broth to a nice boil and add your dumplings at intervals. Between intervals add black pepper. DON'T STIR THE DUMPLINGS! Gently press them down into the broth and let cook 10-15 mintues on a low-medium heat.
