Undaunted, she steps to the side - but not quickly enough. Several of the strikes slash her side, and a few droplets of blood darker than ever thought possible drip out. Nightingale allows the wounds to bleed enough to clean them of any dirt that may have been on Unruley's hooves, then heals them. The wounds close. Nightingale keeps her energy tightly in reserve; she'd rather not reach into the nodes and ley-lines (terms thought of by Mercedes Lackey)of this land unless absolutely necessary. Holding such power is tiring, no matter who it is that's trying. Thus, she heals them only as much as is necessary.
All this occurs in a heartbeat, these thoughts running through her head so quickly as well. Attention never truly leaves the battle. She arises 'pon hindquarters, buffeting the mare with her wings, then soaring overhead and landing on Unruley's other side, too quickly for the eye to follow. Again she rises in a rear, striking out; she lands, then whirls just as quickly, and issues a buck. Whirling, she backs a few paces, then comes charging directly at Unruley, ramming full-force into the mare. All this time, the protective green fire surrounding her never falters, for no energy is needed to keep that shield up. She whirls, and issues yet another buck, aimed directly at Unruley's chest...
