Hi Quittner,

Judaism itself took on many Greek ideas. For example, the Titans being thrown from Olympus for plotting the overthrow of Zeus, the concept of Heaven and Hell (Isles of the Blessed and Hades) etc. Judaism began to absorb surrounding (mainly Greek) influences prior to Christ. The teachings of Christ as related by the gospels are rather similar to the teachings of Seneca and Epictetus in the idea that evil cannot be fought with evil, duty ought to come before pleasure, wealth should not be sought, the afterlife is more important than this life, etc.
