Subject: Back from California

Well I survived the graduation trip to California, and managed to not gain any weight, I maintained. I am exceptionally happy with that, as my sister-in-law is such a wonderful cook and had food around all the time. We also seem to hang in the kitchen at her house.

We left a couple of days early and did some of the vacation stuff, saw the sights. One of the coolest things we saw were Fallow Deer at Mount Madonna Park in the Santa Cruz mountains. They are a rare breed of deer thriving in captivity. They love to have tourists come see them and the park even encourages people to feed them, healthy stuff. I fed them an apple and they eat right out of your hand. The country was beautiful, green and lush. Big difference from the desert where we live.

Anyway, I am home for a couple of weeks, hopefully can get on track and get some pounds off. I am going to try to start walking this week if the smoke clears. There is a large forest fire in Walker, Ca. which is just over the mountain from us and we are getting a lot of smoke. It bothers my allergies a lot. But I will try.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Glad to see you back and that you managed to maintain. That is a difficult task when you're on vacation! I would love to have deer eat from my hands! I think they are so beautiful. We have a lot of white-tailed around here but unfortunately with all the new homes being built they are running out of habitat and end up being hit by cars. I hate surburban sprawl!!!!

You aren't in any danger from the fire are you? Seeing the fires destroy all that beautiful land in CO lately has made me sick.

Good luck losing those couple pounds before you hit the road again, you are really doing a great job, especially given your nomadic tendencies:)

Thanks for the support. No danger from the fires here. I live in the middle of the desert, likely chance of fire here is the military base blowing up. All we have is scrub brush and sage. The California fire is over the mountain from us, we are getting some of the smoke. You are right the fires this year are terrible. Thanks again.
