Be thankful, I got mine at 9. It's really nothing but a hassle we have to live with. I started out with pads because that's what my mom always used, but after a year or so I tried tampons and after a few fumbled attempts, got the hang of it. Wouldn't use anything else now, they're great! Be prepared to be grumpy ( and weepy) and to gain a few pounds around your period, don't worry it's just water and will come off in a few days.
