she was expected to carry the show with some assistance from new characters. The whole thing was about the loss of Mulder, dealing with motherhood and being a single parent. Obviously the creators just couldn't tie these things together with good XFiles stories. That, I feel, was one of the main reasons for the demise of the show.

I think it's grossly unfair to blame GA for any decline--especially without Mulder in the picture. CC and the writers just seemed to give up. I give GA credit for staying and trying keep things at as high a level as possible--given the lower levels of some of the writing.

Personally I enjoyed the show all the way to the end (some episodes are exceptions of course) and wish we still had SOMETHING this good to watch!
