That's pretty close. Here's my analysis of the exercise:

The person described is Benja, the main character in Banquine. White represents innocence. The pearl represents his origin; growing under harsh pressures yet coming through for the better of it. Like a pair of shoes, he gets kicked around a lot but is still quite important to the wearer. Eyes are for keen observation of surroundings. The border collie represents loyalty and the ability to do hard work. The orange has a tough skin but weak interior, which is also a bit of a paradox because although he is sensitive and fearful, he is anything but weak. Perhaps if oranges had pits in the center like plums and peaches, the analogy would fit better. Finally, the alder tree bends to the wind like Benja bends to the will of others, but does not allow himself to be uprooted.

Whew. That got a lot deeper than I expected it to. Great exercise!
