Note: This part doesn't relate to the last part. It introduces a second plot to the story, there are three and one smaller one, they all merge at the end of the story and are all essential to the plot.
-----------------------------
Past the forests of Efrid, south over fields and plains, over the towering Everywhite mountains, in the lands of Diberlen, an assembly of crows and ravens had formed in the treetops over a pine grove.

The sky was overcast, and clouds roiled overhead. The wind was strong, threatening to blow the birds away. It came in powerful gales, each one following another with little time in between.

These birds of scavange had gathered over one, greatly important event. The leader of their flock had been challenged by a rogue raven. It was to be a duel to death, and the victor would either mantain or ascend leadership of the flock.

The crow leader was named Misrik, and the raven Rathtak. Misrik was large in stature, broad wings, strong talons, powerful muscles. He had the natural shade of slick black feathers. His beak was especially sharp, pointed for the kill.

Rathtak was even bigger. His talons were like the finely honed daggers of assassins. His beak had bettered a sword in combat. The wings he had were enormouse, and seemed they would yeild not even to gales ten times as strong as these.

The two adversaries circled each other, slowly, keeping eye contact. They did this for hours, each wanting to tire the other. Then, Misrik realized that his opponent was wearying much slower than he, so he moved in for the first action.

The crow lunged straight at Rathtak, then twisted to attack from the side. But Rathtak had gone. He searched the skies, looking for were the raven had disappeared to.

Taking the crow unawares, Rathtak swirved around from his dodge straight into him, damaging a wing. Misrik twirled in pain but managed to strike the raven with his talons.

Rathtak did not even flinch, he snapped at the fleeing talon with his beak. He twisted and turned with it, almost wrenching it from its socket.

Misrik flew as far up as the raven would allow and struck down. His talon was free, and he flew higher, preparing to strike again. But Rathtak would not permit it. The raven soared from below into the crow, tearing into him beak and talon.

Misrik wheeled in pain and lashed out with his talons. He missed. Rathtak spun around and kicked his talons into the crow. He swung around again and moved for the throat, ripping it out in one fell swoop.

The crow leader fell to the bottom of the grove, and the birds who had all cheered for him were deathly silent.

"Alright, birds. Your law states that I am your new leader. I tolerate NOTHING. If you displease me, the sentence is death!" roared Rathtak, "Now, we are officially on a campaign of conquer. We will strike a Dwarven town in the Marble Mountains first. You have been warned and informed, now no complaints are justified. Now, FLY!!!"
