Subject: Grip Stuff

After reviewing my Maclean on Hogan video last night I started thinking about the grip. Hogan had said that a new golfer should spend 30 minutes a day just practicing the grip. So I gave it 15 minutes today and then a practice session where it was one of 3 test points.

Looking to match appearances, I have been concerned that Moe's grip looks like This (second picture down) and mine doesn't. I have a little gap between hands visible on the botton of the grip. Today I worked to eliminate the gap and have it look like Moe's.

Notice that Moe seems to either have a bit of a reverse overlap (left index finger over right pinky) or at least that right pinky is 'scrunched'.

I was able to get that effect by placing the left hand on the grip but leaving the left index finger open (off the grip). I then slid the right hand down the grip (in SA grip) until the heel pad of the right hand pressed against the second finger of the left hand. I then closed the left index finger. When I closed the finger it came to wrest on the back of my hand but as I squeezed the grip with both hands it woulnd up 'scrunching' the pinky and my hands stayed in contact. I don't think I looked exactly like the Moe picture because my hands are different but it was much closer.

Peter
