From another thread, I've taken a look at Moe's grip on the "Journeyman' tape. It is clearly an overlapping grip and Moe is clearly SA (shaft in line with right arm when viewed from behind down the target line).

If you take a look at a frame by frame of the slow motion segment where Moe's hands come into the frame on the downswing you get a better view of the grip than in the closeup shot. The overlapping is not 'normal' in the sense that Moe's right pinky is straight through the middle joint and only bends at the last joint.

I tried putting my hands on in this fashion and it is very possible though I found it stressful. My first thought was why not just let the pinky 'fall in' in a 10 finger grip. My hypothesis is that Moe was interested in making sure his hands were close together (no separation). His subsequent 10 finger grip has his fingers 'scrunched' so he clearly want to insure no gaps.

I'm not in a hurry to try this variation out. My hands are stiff now from just a few repetitions of getting my hands on this way.

Peter
