One half inch equals 1* in how the club will play...two more inches makes the iron play 4* upright...bending another two equals 6* upright...that may be too much...I went one inch extra and then had each iron bent individually because a wedge may/maynot need to be as upright as a 3 iron...use a dynamic fitting for this (hitting off a lie board)

Also, for each one half inch, you will be increasing swing weight by 3pts...two inches equals 12 swingweight points and that's a LOT...of course you can special order clubs to your specs and have decent swingweights...

As to whether long is good...I found that I grip with my right hand the same distance from the ball as I used to but needed the extra inch to accomadate the SA grip (left hand)

About upright...with a SA grip, you are raising the hands at address (and theoretically impact position)...to me, all irons should be more upright to allow for the natural raising of the hands through impact...conventional irons require you to keep your hands down and low in order to hit them solid and with the right lie...again, check on a lie board by a clubfitter or someone who understands how to use one...or just put masking tape on the soles of the irons and hit balls, you can tell by the grass stain where you are contacting the ground...1/4" off center equals 1* (if memory serves, but check with someone)...

I've read where Jack K. recommends 2" longer but I would want to go with a light weight shaft if I did...

that's all I know, hardpan
