You get more speed but the primary benefit for me has been far fewer fat shots.

I actually think this is a fundamental and the full swing should never be taught without an emphasis here.

Not to insult any women reading this, but what image come to your mind when you hear someone (hopefully a kid) say "He throws like a girl"? The image that comes to my mind is an uncoordinated throw that lacks power and direction because the technique has not been learned. Would you ever see even a little leaguer throw a ball without the elbow leading and the weight going forward? Yet there is a guy I've seen at the driving range 7am on Saturday, all through the winter (and this is the northeast) who not only casts the club but nearly falls over backwards on every shot. Literally!

I don't think I needed to spend the last 4 years learning how to look more like a pro. My golfing buddy has played for 30 years and she is just now hearing from me about sustaining the angle. This is not hard to teach and the fact that a world of golf pros don't teach it makes me wonder if I'm totally off base.

On the other hand I've seen enough to understand some of the reasons this is not a focus.

Hopefully others will not waste the time I have chasing symptoms while not addressing the 'underlying disease'.

Peter
