I haven't had a chance to hit any balls that way, but if I understand you correctly you won't have the left arm higher than the right, when viewed from behind the ball.
Just gripping the club that way, it does feel pretty good. I don't know what the consequences are, though, for losing the top rail (as Scott calls it). As long as it's working for you, that's the important thing.

I've been toying with the right hand grip a little. More on that later.
