I'm not saying that you can't have the grip in your palm with an overlap grip. What I'm saying is that in order to have a true single axis palm grip you need to have the grip laying centered between the meaty part of the thumb pad and the meaty part of your heel pad running directly up the right forearm. Actually a slight seperation in the hands is better to achive a true single axis palm grip. Jack Kuykendall explains this very well in his Lever Power Golf lesson video.
