Subject: I don't recall a standard
In reply to: Don 's message, "Re: Why do I need two inches extra??" on 18:37:37 06/19/00 Mon

The whole theory is like Don is saying, (I don't pretend to fully understand the physics or care I accept it as part of the theory of the SA swing), you are shortening the lever and probably reduce clubhead speed as a result. So to maintain the chance fore optimum speed you need to lengthe the lever. I measured myself with my CG grip (ten finger anyway) and then with the SA palm grip, I have small hands (cadet med glove)I used 3/4" more club in my hand, that is what I got added on. I was actually afraid of too much as I am only 5'7". But I don't think any of the SA Gurus ever said there was a standard for everyone. NG probably uses lie angle to compensate for shorter humans, with the longer standard length they market.
