The next time you go to the driving range to hit your irons try taking a swing and just think about hitting the ball with the heel of your golf club. What you'll be doing is leading and lagging. You're leading with your hands and lagging the clubhead. You may think you're going to hit the ball with the clubface wide open, you won't. You will also notice that you will get more distance.
