Subject: Introduction

I just found out about this forum from the NG board. I'm glad it's here.

Many of the name here I recognize, but thought I should introduce myself (and my biases) for those that don't know me.

I started golf in Feb 1996 and started SA with NG from the LTOBG kit in Sep '97. Got promising results but still a lot of slice/push shots with the long clubs. Tried HSS for a few months (Nov/Dec '97) and got good results but a lot of hooks. Still it was interesting to see the left side of courses. Went back to NG and began to search for an instructor. Found VERY varying opinions about different NG instructors and then saw a good review of IMA school by JohnR. Got the IMA short game tape (Feb '98) and got immediate results. Went to IMA scool in 3/98 (I will post a review in the other thread later). Have held to IMA since.

Started SA shooting a social (mulligans...)110-120. Now shoot 90 - 95 even though I play much less (a round only every few months for the last year - range every week). Low score of 86 during a short period when I played a couple of times/week.

Golf goals: to hit pure shots (no fats/thins/slice/hook) and to play a round without loosing a ball. Don't need more distance though I find as I fix other problems my distance increases.

Biases: I like data but realize that subjective experience may be different. Both are important to performance. I like conclusions/opinions that have data behind them. I find IMA has a philosophical purity in this way that is compelling. There is a clear statement of those elements NECESSARY for the technique and a clear rationale behind them. Things that are not necessary (including special clubs) are clearly indicated.

I am a professional computer type (now doing sales) and have sports experience competing (Olympic trials) and coaching (college).

Peter
