A lot of people who learn NG from the video (and some instructors reportedly) look at the drill where you extend down the line with the club face square and think they should swing that way. As a result many develop blocks and slices despite being SA. SA allignment in and of itself is not enough to eliminate a slice (despite the impression given in the infomercial).

There are swings with 'no' release (at least through impact). HSS is one of these. If you 'release' in HSS you will see dramatic hooks.
