And to answer your first two questions, it would be "yes" to both of them.

See, if I didn't have the right to form my own opinions, then I'd be living under some sort of dictatorship. If I'm living under a dictatorship, then I'm allowing it to rule over me, which would then make me slightly brain dead... among other things.

I mean, I believe most slaves have to be pretty brain dead.

If I simply couldn't form my own opinions, then I'd have a mental problem of some type, which would make me slightly brain dead.. among other things.

So, yeah. The answer's "yes" to both questions.
