Hey, Serp. I posted above before I saw this. So I'll confine my comments now to things not mentioned above.
Where in the bible does it say "Man is sinful and will always be sinful" I don't know the whole of the bible by heart, but I'm certain I've never read that. Yes, I've heard plenty of people claim that's in the bible. But they also claim that the doctrine of the trinity is in the bible.
A real religion is not merely man made, but is the intersection between man and God. It is not perfect. And real religion can be recognized by the fruits we reap from it. This means the changes in the lives of believers. So if people saw Star Wars and this transformed their lives (other than to make them nerdy ;) ) this would hint at some truth to it's message. By the way, Lucas was pretty clearly liberally borrowing from Asian philosphy in the first three, and appeared to be Christianizing the Force in the latest movie-- so there is real religion running around in it, anyhow.

As for the belief not making sense to you, that's fine and fair. But I'd caution you to make sure whatever belief doesn't make sense is actually one advocated by Christ. Lot's of ideas advocated by so-called Christians don't make any sense because they've got nothing to do with Christ's message.
My point about the destruction of the earth is that science has given us Nukes and stuff. If religion isn't a good guide for what to do (or not to do) with Nukes, then somebody better find out what is a good guide, and they'd better do it fast.
Yes, you are right; I believe their are many Paths to Salvation/Liberation.
