I don't know how to make this not accusatory. I guess all I can preface it with is the statement that I'm far from perfect, and claim to be no holier, smarter, or whatever than the rest of you.

Just depends, I guess.

Having said that, I think many of the postings in this string are riddled with the same sorts of pseudo-logic that you are accusing others of.

Here is the simplest way I can put this, and to also cover my own ass.

Man is sinful, and will always be sinful. That is something from the Holy Bible. Next.

God, as Paul said, inspired the writings of the Holy Bible. If man is forever sinful, then the Bible had to of been corrupted through the "divine intervention." Thus, the obvious happens.

If man gets his hands on anything with value, or power, he will corrupt that system, so he can control it.

Therefore, the Holy Bible, the Koran, and anything that claims to be the "the way, the truth, and the light. But you've got to do this in order to get there" isn't "the way." It's man made.

#1) It might be that Paul believes we shouldn't follow the Tao Te Ching, The Koran, etc; but I didn't see him say that. I just saw him say that we should follow the bible. And that's a fair thing to say.

Then I believe you should follow the book Alice In Wonderland. Would it be fair for me to say that? What's the difference?

Besides, we know that Paul believes we should only follow the Christian Bible. We (us and Paul) have had these discussions many times. It's hard for me to believe that he wants us to follow some other bible. Meaning, all of my comments were valid.

#2) The title "Christian" has been stolen by a group which is arguably a minority; a group with a specific political, theological, and social agenda. Their Christology arises more from post-biblical councils than ideas espoused by Jesus and those who new Jesus. I don't debate thier right to call themselves Christian. I do take issue with the fact that they claim to be the only Christians. And what is worse, people opposed to them buy the lie, smearing the name of all those seek to follow Christ the man, not the church.

Very good points. So, I'll buy that. However, if the belief itself doesn't make any sense to me, then it can't be followed. Maybe in small amounts of morals, but nothing else.

#3) Science tells us lots of stuff. It gives us lots of toys. It doesn't tell us how to play with them. As science makes humanity powerful enough to destroy his planet, to reach the stars and corrupt them, we should be thankful for religion's vitality.

Wrong. You can not blame the study of our Earth, and the universe, on man's agenda. Fact is fact, and fairy tales are fairy tales. Rainbows are not created by some magical force. Science has shown us this.

As for religion. The movie Star Wars has just as many morals in it than any main religion of today. Should we start a church of Star Wars, and believe everything that movie has shown us through special effects?

No. Because it's fantasy art. Now, if we were threatened with condemnation or damnation, then a lot of us would feel forced into believing in Star Wars. And I would still say it was nonsense, just like most religions are.

Yes, it is abused. But I submit we would be in rough shape with out it.

Is it because man can't manage without old morals, and some daddy type figure looking down on him?

#4) Lona, you agree with Serpent,

Because she's smart.

"yes it is stronger than ever"; this implies surprise, or condemnation that Christians can hold their views in an age of science. Yet you are a believer in divine influences; how is it that a Christian shouldn't believe but you should?

It would be simple for me.

One, you don't act as though your belief is the only belief because a book told you it was, and two, science doesn't tell you that you're going to hell, or you're going to be condemned if you don't believe in me.
