Hi Serp.
First off, Let me clarify my original point, about you and I being in the same boat. What I meant was that there are people who choose similar terms to describe themselves to you, but these people are knuckleheads. This is also true of my situation. One person I look to for guidance is Christ. Many of the people who also look to Christ for guidance, etc. are pretty lousy people. Just as some people might use NWA to justify shooting innocent people. I don't claim that they are understaning NWA accurately, anymore than a "Christian" who uses his faith to justify hatred. My point is that I am not defending these people or their actions any more than you would defend a gang member who kills innocents.

I think you'd be surprised how few people relate original sin with sex. Most relate it to not listening to God in Eden. Which is maybe problematic, but not so silly as relating it to sex.

As for the logical stuff, you tried to smuggle in the part about not fucking with other people. Let me put it this way:
I think we both agree you shouldn't steal, all things being equal. Suppose a $100 fell out of the pocket of someone who clearly needed it. (He was paying his electricity bill or something.) Can you give me an atheist justification for not stealing it? I'm not saying that your average atheist will steal it; I'm just saying in choosing to act altruistically, he is in somne way inconsistent, without justification.
As for the stuff about facts:
Serpent, have you ever seen a quark? Nobody else has, either. Do you believe in black holes? How about electricity; do you understand why the light turns on? Why airplanes fly? Maybe you know something about physics, so you know these two. But nobody understands why bumblebees fly. Based on what we know of aerodynamics, they shouldn't be able to.
You accept all these not because you have facts explaining them; but because it makes sense to accept them, it is easier to accept that we don't know everything about aerodynamics than it is to suggest bumble bees are some sort of mass halucination.
I suggest religion is in this category.
