Subject: and a little more...

I rushed through that last post, so let me spell some stuff out a little better:
#1) If the bible, as it currently exists, is directly and infallibly the word of God, we have to accept the idea that it is an improvement over the past attempts; the books currently included are the ones which are most benificial to mankind. The "gnostic" texts which have been included in the past are at best unnecessary, at worst harmful.
I have no problem with the above possibility. But it has to be recognized, then, that we've only been operating with the correct instructional manual for a couple hundred years, not a couple thousand years. Would a loving god share his nature with such a tiny fraction of his children? These observations don't create this as a new problem, rather, they shrink down the minority in possession of the "truth."
#2) I accept that my information begins from sources with socio/policitcal/religious agendas. But so does yours. And this is good reason for considering this information as part of the total picture, not the whole thing.
