I've been wrong before, and I could be wrong again. But I suspect it's going to be like the Israeli occupation of Lebanon from here on in.

I don't think we'll invade Syria. Syria's military is intact, 500 thousand strong, and unlikely to fight us as stupidly as the Iraqis. They can't win, but they can kill many more of our soldiers, and that would dampen the war cries. I don't think the president can afford that politically.
