Well, as a rule I'd say that is a great advantage if your enemy are unsure of where your forces are.

But maybe, as you hint at AlanY, those men you are showing are likely to influence the tactics planned by your opponent. And this could of course be used to your advantage.

And if you want to be other places then in woods and buildings, you better show.

I'd like to hide though :P
