Thanks for the info. I figured out the necessity for the Germans to take the road virtually all the way to have a chance at catching up the with the rapid Russian advance.

I've got a beginner's defensive fire/los sight question for everyone. In one of my plays yesterday I decided that the Russians should cover as wide a swath of the J-P hexes as possible to try and divide the German efforts on two separate fronts (i.e. try and come from the west with some forces to exit through P and with the other forces hit the J exit. The strategy turned out very poorly for the Russians because I had to choose which side would have their only leader necessary for rallying. (I can give details of this later and it seems to fit this thread). So my question is this. If separate units following differing paths pass through one common hex on their movement phase can you use defensive fire at that hex to send back all units that passed through it, even if the timing was such that they would have entered and exited the hex at different times? Or does 19.3 dictate that the shot be called DURING the movement phase and therefore only one squad at a time (or stacked move) can be addressed by defensive fire?

Thanks!
Victor
