I'll have a go, although I'm barely better than a novice myself. Here's a couple of thoughts which could get a discussion going at least.
All gleaned from losing more than winning. :)

1. Regarding maneuver, whenever possible aim to offer your opponent either no opportunities or far too many. Nothing worse than having to choose the lesser of two (or three or four...) evils.

2. Don't underestimate psychology.
Even a single unit can be intimidating if it's covering a patch of open ground. Even a little old LMG screams "penetration" if you're under pressure.
The corollary is not to let yourself get intimidated out of advancing if it's tactically right (especially if you can pull off #1, above).

3. Practice your timing. If you can get two significant sets of things to happen at once, I calculate that it's about 87 times more effective than having them happen separately.
