Subject: Changes for Next year
In reply to: Jack Hoskinson 's message, "Next years Tournaments" on 07:21:00 10/13/03 Mon

Here is a list of the changes that were voted on by the club at the Oct. Tournament/meeting. If i remember correctly there were 18 members present at this special meeting. I believe Sharon will be sending out a news letter detailing all the changes that were voted on and other possible changes that will be discussed further at the Jan. meeting.

Changes Voted on and accepted by the membership:

1). Membership fee will be increased from $5 person or $7.50 family to $15 person or $17.50 family. The increase is a result of the KSA and NSBA forming a partnership. $10 of this fee will go to the NSBA and in return each member will recieve a subscribtion to the NSBA magazine which is an $18 value. Also the NSBA will donate to the KSA 10 Shakesphere rod and reel combos to be used as the KSA seems fit. Jack has contacted the NSBA as to the question raised about all ready being a NSBA competion member all ready recieveing the magazine. The NSBA's reply was that "Competition members that are Club partner members can get a reduction by identifying themselves as a member of a partner club as they renew at the beginning of each year."

2.)Tournament entry fee's will be increased to $40 per person. Children 15 and under years old will be half ($20).

3.)A 5 person committe was elected to seek sponsors for door prizes or added prizes/money to the tournament payouts.

4.)The KSA will have a $1000 1st place tournament next year. Sponsors will be sought to donate to this tourament also.

5.)A Total weight side pot will be added to the tournaments. Details on how this will be done will be decided in Jan. There will still be the Walleye side pot.

6.)There will be less weigh in times next year. Noon & 9pm sat. and Noon Sun. were discussed as the possible times. The times will be decided in Jan.

7.)Tournament Start time was changed from Safe Light to 6am Sat. This elimates the variance of what exactly is safe light.

8.)A survey/questionaire will be sent out to all KSA members on other possible things they would like to see changed. What they like about the club. Other subjects you might want seen on this form please send to one of the officers. Why they do or don't fish the tournaments or attend meetings. Sharon sends out approx. 85 letters each month. The purpose of this is to see what we can do as a club to get more involvement from our members.

There was alot covered at this meeting. This was just the main things decided on. Some other subjects up for discussion to be decided on at the Jan. meeting were as follows:
1).Give the Youth and/or Lady anglers a door prize just for entering the tournament. To promote the family fishing in the KSA. One suggestion was not to give plaques to the top finishers but to give them to the top Youth and lady anglers.

2.)A restructure of our point system. One suggestion was to NOT award tournament points to the angler if they do not attend the club meeting at the end of the tournament. This would promote the importance of attending the meetings.(exceptions to this would have to be made on a case by case basis by the officers, examples would be having to leave the tournament early because of an emergency). Also suggested was giving more points for the placers of the tournament. If changes to the point system are voted on and changed at the Jan. meeting they will take effect at that meeting so if your wanting to be in the points hunt for the year you won't want to miss the Jan. meeting.
Overall i would have to say this was the best club meeting i have ever been too. There was ALOT of input and ideas from those members attending. And alot of things were decided on and discussed. This type of communication is exactly what the club needs in order to grow and promote what we all love the most. Catching and promoting Striper fishing in Kansas.
