PassionPlace is finally ready to send the press release about our next full length theatrical production for the live stage! We're hoping to entice you to reintroduce PassionPlace back "onto the scene" for your readers to enjoy the history and resurgence of one of the Hudson Valley's hottest and boldest production companies for your May issue. First, the press release details, and should you find yourselves interested, please give me a call to discuss a more in-depth perspective on what we're doing, and why...
Please keep in mind that we have a ten year history to discuss, a current and phenomenal season lined up, and a five year plan to establish a permanent location and full arts complex. Plenty to talk about and alert your readers - turn area artists onto - and to entice a yearning audience/crowd desperately seeking fine, wise, thoughtful, proactive and caring entertainment.
PassionPlace Productions, Inc. is a not-for-profit multi-media organization dedicated to bringing original live performances through integrated art forms (theatre, spoken word, music, film, dance, fine arts) in a collaborative effort to the community. Providing employment and resources to artists, Passionplace aims to save children (ages 3 to 103) through freedom and responsibility of art expression. By touring our productions, we share the artist's vision to other communities, while exploring those communities we visit.

Aqiyl Thomas, Shawna Kent and Yohannes Shariff, all from Atlanta, GA, will be joining as the actors/spoken word artists.
A few excerpts from a review of Aqiyl's book by Michael D. Johnson:
"Few of us could ever ponder the idea that poetry would be so fresh, raw, dynamic, while at the same time giving us a tangible message to hold onto. The Underground Epic by Aqiyl Thomas does all this and much, much more. This collection of urban, dialectical poetry comes attached with real-life issues that everyone should read and pay attention to. I highly encourage all to get this work and read for yourselves the extreme value this book brings to humankind.
...I highly recommend this work to anyone and everyone. If you want to understand the mind of a young, modern, progressive African-American male, get the book. If you want to understand the ills that plague our society, get the book. If you want to get a taste of history that is not taught in today’s schools, get the book. Finally, if you want to be enlightened and energized, and thoroughly entertained, get the book."
Tickets are available by calling PassionPlace Productions at 914-388-4690. Block reservations for schools, and arts organizations are also available at a discounted rate.
One of PassionPlace's goals, saving children through the arts, invites an opportunity for area youth to attend this performance at discounted rates, with the intention of having those students who attend the show submit works of their own to create a similar production, using their written works, fine art images, dancing talents, musical talents, as well as any students interested in the technical aspects of production, for a production of THE 2002 EPIC to be produced later in the year.
Anyone wishing to be part of the PassionPlace Team, or who are interested in assisting in funding this performance, as well as the rest of the 2002-2003 season, please feel free to contact PassionPlace at (914)388-4690, or by e-mail at passionplaceproductions@hotmail.com
