Yes, Heather, indeed we did! I'm sorry our internship coordinator didn't get a chance to reply to you yet. Your application reply was marked "Yes! Please get her in to meet with us!"
We'd be thrilled to meet you. We loved how honest and earnest your answers were...definitely the PassionPlace mentality!
We would love to set up a meeting as early as possible, although the first weekend you are available is Passover weekend, so that might be rough. Perhaps the following weekend? The first Fri afternoon or Saturday or Sunday of April would be great.
A thought: Would you be interested inpossibly assisting as an intern during the current semester, and roll it over into the summer semester, thereby earning more credits than a single semester?
We could use your assistance on the current production which we'll be running from May 31st through June 14th.
There's plenty that can be done through distance, as it will involve e-mail, and follow-up, mainly. One idea we had for you was to perhaps take up the challenge of press releases, or introducing our production to various mags/rags in hopes of scheduling interviews and feature articles.
If not, you are still welcome to hop on board as of June 4th. We will be completing the last two legs of the tour in progress, at that point, which we can certainly use all the hands we have. Thereafter, we'll already be in full swing for the next production.
We are currently looking into a house to accommodate up to six interns. We should hear back from the realtor soon. The rent wouldn't be too expensive, that's for sure, but we won't know until he's secured the house.
SUNY New Paltz would be the best bet (or Empire State College, also in New Paltz) as New Paltz does have summer housing. The local community colleges do not have housing.
As for payment: it depends on whether or not your school partakes in the shared work program. Please ask your department head if this is something your school does. Essentially, the school pays a minimum of 50% of your wages, and handles the payroll, taxes for your wages. Passionplace would be responsible for up to 49% of your wages. That's the only way we can work it, for now, until better funding comes in (which we are working on) so that we can provide paid internships and both part-time and full-time employment.
Hopefully, if you enroll in school for the summer, and we can justify your earning enough credits to be able to receive financial aid for room & board, that would be great!
So, please let me know when we can meet you and make sure that we're the right place for you to intern...I hope so!
Meanwhile, I look forward to finding out which date you can visit with us, at which time I'll forward you directions.
Ciao, for now...
Sarah
