In reply to: Donna Thompson 's message, "My Thoughts Of What Makes A Genius" on 23:16:19 10/15/03 Wed

I feel arrogant to proclaim myself a genius, yet the IQ adds up and the job description fits (scientist)so I will for a moment describe how it feels to me. So much of what Ms. Thompson wrote here previously, applies and makes it seem quite romantic. Yet, if I do actually fall into this category I have to add that it is also troublesome and perhaps not as romantic as portrayed. Noise is obtrusive, thoughts are unending and sometimes it all culminates in isolation and a penchant toward morbid anxiety - sometimes I truly believe in(and long for)the sentiment that "ignorance is bliss". 'Normal' people are completely disconnected from everything you know, are interested in and believe and it pains deeply when those you truly care for and who care for you 'glaze over' and nod vacantly upon the expression of your deepest and most sacred truths. Connections are easily broken with the social world as you become more and more deeply involved in your own world of thought and experience, which no one else seems to understand or relate to through their own experiences. It truly is a lonely place to be. And sadly, it becomes so easy to become frustrated and angry with the illogical, wasteful and inefficient ways of the world - everyday trying to modify your approach to try to have others understand what seems so simple to you and yet so incredibly abstract to them. But I suppose I should not complain too much, my endless excogitation has taken me to the deeper meaning of life, energy and goodness; what I believe others follow writings and traditions and preachers for... for a glimpse of God. Then, and only then, do I no longer believe that ignorance is bliss and I become truly thankful that most surely in a world of apparent noise and disconnection.. I am most definitely not alone.

p.s. genius thought is original and at its best perfect of clarity, truth and logic. Yet sadly, regularly but faultily disputed by common thoughts based on common perception and public opinion ....do I sound too jaded?
