My wife, Cindy or Past Tempted, may not even know exactly how the first night we encountered went. She has told people about the kiss that senior cheerleader planted on this sophomore football player after we won a big football game.
The big boys took me to a little drinking session after that. Cindy did not partake in such events but mainly senior boys and girls were there. I had my first beer and cigarette. I was still OK when I went home.
I woke up a little sore from the game and had a bad taste in my mouth. My mother presented me with the daily paper that serves the area. There on the front page was me kissing Cindy.
We joked about it that Monday at school. Most of the rest of the school year went with the senior girl being nice to the sophomore boy. For some reason she invited me to her senior prom. She drove. We never lost touch but it was really a year and a half later before the romance really took.
It was a big day for me but much more important than my first attempt at smoking were the other events. I never followed up a great deal on smoking by the way. I did get into chewing but stopped that at my wife's insistence.
