因為
1.整體不一定比成份重要:『道德是一種才能』推論不出才比德重要; 道理正如『某高官是某黑社會的一個成員』推論不出『某黑社會比某高官重要』。
2.『道德只是一種才能』更是片面真理,忽略了道德的行為都有某種利他的情感,
而利他的行為是罕有的,十分珍貴且令人敬佩;故道德不只是一種才能,而也是一種令人敬佩的品格。
3. 『道德只是為群體的生存繁衍而服務』推論不出道德不重要,因為,如果群體的生存繁衍是重要的話, 道德便是重要的。

小心, 『才能都是為物種的生存繁衍而服務』只是某一派科學家對物種生存繁衍的解釋; 但並非唯一的合理解釋; 有另一派的學者這樣說(大意如下):
『在億萬年的進化過程中,出現過千千萬萬的物種,有的才能有利於求生,有些不利於求生,即並非所有才能都是為物種的生存繁衍而服務,但適者生存不適者淘汰,擁有不利於求生才能的物種都已絕種,所以我們觀察現存的物種,就以為凡才能都是為物種的生存繁衍而服務,事實上,有些才能是不利於求生的, 例如恐龍的龐大身軀,打架時是頗有利於鬥撞,也算是有才之士吧?但身軀龐大,食物需求量也驚人啊, 恐龍如今安在哉? 』
