Yes, any game against a Division 1 counts towards the RPI. However, games against teams transistioning to Division 1 (as Oakland University was a couple of years ago) do not count.

For an NCAA bid, we have to win the HL tourney.

For an NIT bid - no matter who we beat or lose to - we'll have to improve our RPI to 100 or below. We are currently 13-10 with an RPI of 126.
If we finish the rest of the regular season 2-2 or worse, then there no chance of an NIT bid. Even if we went 3-1 in the HL tourney we would finish the year 5-3 and I don't think that finish will be enough to improve our RPI to 100 or below.
If we finish the rest of the regular season 3-1 and we go 2-1 in the HL tourney I think we'll finish with an RPI between 100 and 110.
If we finish the rest of the regular season 4-0 and we go 2-1 in the HL tourney I think we'll finish with an RPI between 95 and 100.
If we finish the rest of the regular season 4-0 and we go 3-1 (in other words, we lose in the Horizon League Championship Game) I think we'll finish with an RPI between 90 and 95.

While finishing with a RPI of 90 or better the past two season has garnished the Titans an NIT invitation, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE WERE NOT COMPETING AGAINST 2 OTHER CONFERENCE TEAMS. In 2001, we were the only MCC team in the NIT. In 2002, both Detroit and Butler received invites.
In closely following the NIT selections over the past 9 years, I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THE NIT WILL INVITE 3 HORIZON LEAGUE TEAMS.

Butler (40ish RPI) is an NIT lock.
UWM (60ish RPI) is an NIT lock.
UIC (70ish RPI) is very close to becoming an NIT lock.
It is very unlikely that we will finish with an RPI better than either Butler, UWM, or UIC, thus if the Horizon only gets one team into the Big Dance (Butler, UWM, or UIC), the other two teams will be heading to the NIT and we may not get an NIT invite even if our RPI is 90 or better.
