True Rhulon and Jimmy aren't Rashad or Jermaine, but they are adequate D1 point guards playing significant minutes for the first time in their D1 careers. Willie Wallace while not being the best big man we've ever had, has been a solid player in most of our contests. Do you remember that he was fifth in Mr. Basketball balloting when he was a senior in high school? If the fifth best player, as voted by the media, isn't worth the status of a D1 player then who is? Clark rarely plays, and Bernie is a walk-on so your probably right in their cases. I'm not going to debate about Riggs heart because that has nothing to do with coaching. Riggs is big time, and if he was four inches taller would be a legitimate pro-prospect, just the kind of player a mid-major school wants and normally gets.
Take a walk around the campus and you may understand why we don't get the talent of most schools. I'm amazed we, or should I say Coach Watson, have accomplished as much as we have given the state of the University. The men's basketball program is one of the few things on the campus we can be proud of right now.
OU is not better, I know idiots who don't know basketball or haven't followed both teams all year rejoice in saying that, but having watched this season unfold all year I would say we are neck and neck. This is a slightly down year for us, and they are on the rise. There's nothing wrong with having two strong local mid-major programs, as a matter of fact, if OU would play us it would be good for both of us.
